Sometime in her past, Hannah was raped, which possibly either started or contributed to her depression. Hannah ends up admitting into a mental home for her own safety after she has a breakdown in the supermarket.
Hannah meets Rose and Ginger, and they all sit at their own designated table for depressed and bipolar patients, swapping sad virginity-loss stories over chocolates. Throughout their duration at the psychiatric home and trip to the zoo, Hannah and Rose come to the realisation that conversation doesn't really flow between them. Despite this, Hannah and Rose get along and eventually leave the psychiatric home, moving in together.
When Rose gets bored, Hannah agrees to take her to a lesbian bar where Hannah gets incredibly drunk. Rose loses sight of Hannah until she finally finds her making out with a random woman. In order to trust herself more, Hannah owns an orchid which she names "Michael", but is discouraged when Rose also buys an orchid.
- None known (family)
- Hannah claims her breakdown at the supermarket was because she didn't know what tuna to buy.
Whether or not she was being facetious remains to be seen.
